COSMETIC DENTISTRY

We offer a full range of dental treatments. Among the many standard treatments available (fillings, gum care etc..) we also offer up to date choices in all types of cosmetic dentistry. Many special techniques are now available to both restore and improve the appearance of your teeth. These include tooth shaded 'white' resin composite fillings (rather than Mercury based metal fillings), bleaching to whiten your teeth, porcelain veneers to mask discoloured or stained teeth and correct minor misalignments, tooth-coloured crowns to build up, strengthen and protect broken down or heavily filled teeth and natural looking bridges (fixed or removable) to replace missing teeth. Implants are also provided in the practice by a specialist surgeon who visits the practice.

PAINFUL TEETH / ENDODONTICS

Teeth become painful for many reasons but the cause is usually due to bacteria from the mouth getting in to the tooth nerve through cracks or decay in the tooth. Sealing over cracks with resin sealants or crowns can resolve this pain but if the tooth nerve is dying or has died then it is still possible to save the tooth by root filling it (Endodontics). Jonathan Munns has a special interest in Endodontics using the latest techniques for an effective and predictable outcome following treatment.

CROWDED TEETH

If your teeth are uneven or crowded we can arrange to refer you for a consultation with a specialist who can advise you and may be able to offer corrective Orthodontic treatment.

FACIAL PAIN

You might also be suffering from pain in the muscles of your face which can cause migraine-like headaches and discomfort round your jaw joints. This is often due to disharmony between the way teeth meet and the way the muscles close the jaws. We can provide advice and effective treatment solutions to help these problems.

GUM CARE / HYGIENIST SERVICES

Niney five percent of humans have some degree of gum inflammation (Gingivitis) due to plaque build-up around teeth. One in five people have areas round their mouth affected by Periodontal Disease where gum inflammation is causing the bone to erode away from the roots of their teeth. Checking for and subsequently monitoring gum health is essential to be able to advise and then assist patients to control gingivitis and Periodontal Disease. Jonathan Munns regularly monitors all his patients gum health and will advise on any problems and how to deal with them. As well as providing gum care and treatment himself the practice has the services of a hygienist who specialises in treating gum disease and guiding patients in self-help methods to try to control any areas affected by periodontal disease.
